A reed a day?

I start most days thinking about reeds. Do I have a ton to make? Is the weather okay? Do my hands hurt?

I can't clearly remember a time when I didn't make reeds. I remember thinking that this was hard, and I've certainly heard lots of folks say they hate doing it - but for me, now, it's a lifestyle - a vocation and an avocation - a meditation and a practice in that same way of thinking.

Don't get me wrong - if I won the lottery, I might not make a reed today, this week, this month - this year.

But it's become part of me - it's what I do.
