It's my first day back from....

three weeks away at conferences and a final week on vacation with the family in Florida. TMEA was huge, and very successful for us. There are so many band directors in Texas (all seemingly looking for reeds).

Double Reed Day at MTSU seems so far back there in my mind, yet it was just a week and a half ago. It was a pleasure to be there - they have great faculty and superior facilities. The fact that it snowed on the day of the conference didn't deter many, and it was a great day.

Now, I am wading through over 1,500 emails and dozens of unfilled reed orders. Even though I made hundreds of reeds before I left, we sold out!

Everyday I read the blogs

that matter to me - three of them, *1 *2 *3 and yet, I can't seem to post anything here. What gives?

The Texas Music Educators Association Conference is coming up and CDRC is attending for the first time. I've attended about 15 IDRS shows, and numerous other ones big and small, but never got around to this one. I'll be there with Beth Watson, who worked with me at the last IDRS, and lives nearby. If you're going to attend, let me know in advance. I would love to meet you!

I'm looking forward to being in warm (hopefully) Texas, as we've had such awful weather here all winter. It's just warm enough to melt everything about every three days, and when it snows, it rains afterward. Skiing downhill and cross country have been really bad this year. I'm a much better skier as a result - I can ski ice, mush, death cookies, hard corduroy, but I wish I didn't have to.
